EMIKO SUPERSTAR

A borrowed diary, a double life and identity issues fuel a teenager's quest to find herself before she cracks and commits social suicide. Watch Emi go from dull, suburban babysitter to eclectic urban art star compliments of one crazy summer!

EMIKO SUPERSTAR is a new graphic novel hitting comic shops on October 1st from DC Comics' MINX line. Clocking in with 146 pages of story and a $10 US price tag, it's written by novelist & performance artist Mariko Tamaki and illustrated by yours truly, Steve Rolston.

Mariko is a relative newcomer to the world of comics but she's already wowed many readers with her first graphic novel SKIM (illustrated by her cousin Jillian Tamaki and published by Groundwood Books). EMIKO SUPERSTAR will be her second graphic novel and I'd say she's already mastered a perfect balance of subtle character moments and exciting visuals. It was a blast to draw and even more fun to read and re-read.

Here's just a tiny peek of what you can expect, minus the word balloons...

If you want a bigger taste of the story, you can find a 20-page preview (with word balloons but minus the greytones) over at Myspace Comic Books.

For those not in the know, Minx is a new imprint devoted to publishing graphic novels for teenage girls. Visit www.Minxbooks.net for more info on the line of books and its creators such as Ross Campbell, Cecil Castelucci, Jim Rugg, Andi Watson, Brian Wood, Ryan Kelly and Joëlle Jones.
